The Crown Stirrup, Lyndhurst

A traditional country pub in the outskirts of Lyndhurst and is just off the Lyndhurst Parish Circular Walk.

The pub dates back to the 15th century, its traditional décor, log fire and low ceilings adds plenty of character, the pub has a large garden and welcomes walkers, cyclists and dogs.

Under new management since December 2024. Steve & family are bringing the Crown Stirrup back to life with the TLC it deserves!

Set in a prime location, on the road from Lyndhurst to Brockenhurst. The New Forest is a step through the garden gate..literally!

Serving good hearty homemade food with a beautiful real fire, it keeps with the traditional country pub feel.

We stopped here for the night in our motorhome. Very welcoming with a lovely wood fire for a very cold night. Food was delicious, I had the moving mountains burger with fries and my husband had the chilli con carnie. Very clean and tidy. Thank you

Lovely pub, quiet on our visit. It doesn't look much from the outside but step inside and it's modern, clean and homely. The food was good and staff friendly

We are trying to visit every pub on a pub stop map of New Forest we purchased a while ago (60 down , lots to go ) we ended up here at this very quaint pub just outside Lyndhurst, the owners were very nice and welcoming, great selection of real ales, good selection of food choices on menu, my partner went for a chicken wrap, and I had cheddar ploughman's, the wrap came with delicious fries and the ploughman's was very good, a huge selection with it. We were pleased with our choices, very tasty all round.

Excellent stay here. Room for about 5 campervans,( but contact ahead of arrival, as could get busy ). Steve the landlord was very welcoming. Food was very nice and reasonably priced. New forest walks, literally out the back gate of the pub garden.

We stumbled across this pub whilst out walking. There was only one other customer and this was a Friday lunchtime. My husband had ham, egg and chips which was fine. I love a ploughman's and was excited to see it on the menu. It was £15.95! The salad garnish was a small pile of limp leaves and 3 skinny sticks of old celery. The ham, sliced apple and pickles were good but I only had half a ciabatta roll with it. I was disappointed. I told the staff and was given the other half of the roll. The atmosphere was very quiet.

Had a Sunday lunch here today and it was great. Portions were fab, had a whole lamb shank for £17, and the veggie wellington was decent. The pub is a nice vibe and the garden is large, peaceful and quiet. It has cover of its hot too. The staff were lovely and polite. We booked in advance but jt was pretty quiet at 1:30 so could’ve not booked.

A lovely friendly pub that serves gorgeous food. We had beer battered fish and chips, it was delicious the batter qas incredibly light and crisp, yhe fish cooked to perfection and the chops were yummy too. Would definitely call again if we are out that way and any one about in Lindsey in New Forrest it's definitely worth a visit. A beautiful beer garden too.
